Bunjin

This form of ikebana is based on a Japanese interpretation of the tastes of Chinese bunjin or literati. It places an emphasis on the symbolic use of materials and has an expressive literary quality. While it is strongly influenced by the taste of Chinese scholar painters and is set against the background of bunjin-bana from the middle of the Edo period, it has developed as a contemporary form of ikebana.
